Nogemachi Park: A Hidden Playground with Ancient Roots

A great place to hang out!

The Experience

If the kids are bouncing off the walls and need space to burn off energy, Tamagawa Nogemachi Park is a fantastic place to spend a few hours outdoors—especially now that spring is in full bloom in Tokyo.

Location

📍1 Chome-25-1 Noge, Setagaya City, Tokyo 158-0092

What to Do

This local favorite offers five play structures all conveniently located in one area, making it easy for parents to keep an eye on everyone. The playground is packed with variety:

🧗‍♀️ A mini climbing wall

🪵 Obstacle course perfect for imaginative “the floor is lava” games

🏖️ Sandbox

🎠 Merry-go-round

🎯 Swings and slides

🐾 Small animal tunnels for crawling and exploring

Beyond the play equipment, the park has a unique and historic feature: a large, grassy kofun (ancient burial mound) dating back to the 5th century. While the person buried there remains a mystery, the gentle trail that leads up and around the mound is a hit with energetic kids who love to run, climb, and roll down the slope.

In the summer months, the park also features a small outdoor pool, adding to its seasonal appeal.

Springtime Tips

With the warmer weather and flowers starting to bloom, spring is a perfect time to visit. Bring a blanket for a casual picnic while the kids play, and take in the fresh air and wide open space. It's not a big park, but it's packed with charm and activity.
