Three days of fall fun in Hakone
Beautiful spot for a swing at Anest Iwata Sky Lounge:)
This is a 3 day driving itinerary, however Hakone is super easy to get to and get around in, so you can easily get from one place to another using the bus system or the train cars.
Day 1
We started at the Tagendai-go port and took the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise to the Hakonemachi-ko port. It was time for lunch so we stopped at Tatsumi for Ramen. A great variety with an English Menu. They also have regular seating and a tatami room with 4 tables. Perfect for families and larger groups. WIth full bellies, we continued our walk towards the temple for shopping and dessert. We made our way back to the port and took the last ship back to Tagendai-go. There is definitely more to do at the Motohakone-ko port with the shrine and more shopping, but if you want to avoid some of the crowds with a nice view of Fuji, this stop also has some places as well. We headed back to our hotel for check-in and onsen time.

Day 2
This day was dedicated to the Open Air Museum. It is one of my favorite museums in Japan as it is great for kids and adults. Although you could spend an hour here and move onto the other sights of Hakone, we spent the entire day here. Many visitors brought picnics and enjoyed the scenery. We ended up leaving for a sushi lunch and grabbing some snacks from the nearby 7-11. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to regroup. We found a soba restaurant for dinner. We came back to the hotel for relaxation and onsen time.

Day 3
We left around the check-out to drive back to Tokyo. We made two stops on the way back. The first being to Anest Iwata Sky Lounge. The view here was beautiful! They had a swing to take instaworthy photos as well as many stands to position your phone for photos as well. Inside, there is a sit-down restaurant as well as three other fast food eateries to grab and enjoy in the main lobby area. There is a minimart with fresh fruits and vegetables as well. We continued our way up to Children’s Forest Wanpaku Land. We spent about 3 hours here and managed to see half of this. It was such a fun place to let out some steam!

We had such a great and relaxing holiday in Hakone. This itinerary might be slow and missing many of the tourist attractions, but we found it perfect for our active kids!
