Eric Carle Play Park: A Hidden Gem for Little Explorers

The girls create their own recycled masterpiece!

What a charming indoor play park! Designed for children ages 0-5, you might be able to bring an older sibling (up to around 8 years old) if they’re tagging along, but it’s not the best spot for elementary-aged kids and their friends. For that, Tokyo has plenty of other great play spaces!

Located on the 8th floor of Futako Tamagawa Rise, Eric Carle Play Park is a colorful, interactive space inspired by the beloved author and illustrator. With nine unique areas, there’s something for every little adventurer.

The 9 Play Areas

Amazing Garden

A delightful little garden maze where kids can run, hide, and explore. There are multiple exits and plenty of secret nooks to discover. A mirror on the ceiling offers a great vantage point for parents to watch their little ones from afar.

Play Zone

Let the kids burn off some energy! This wooden climbing structure includes a fireman’s pole, rope webs, and even a trampoline. Be aware that it can be slippery with socks—non-slip socks might be a good idea for better grip. It’s easy enough for adults to navigate, making it a fun area for all ages.

Discovery Zone

A spacious, carpeted area perfect for all ages, including crawlers. Interactive exhibits on the walls provide fascinating facts about butterflies, while little ground-level activities keep even the youngest children engaged. Cushions and pillows are scattered around to help support tiny explorers.

Picture Creations

Calling all little artists! This arts and crafts area is stocked with recycled materials and art supplies for kids to create their own masterpieces. There’s also a painting section and a masking tape station—always a favorite! Kids can take their artwork home or leave it on display for future visitors.

Mechanics in Motion

This section brings Eric Carle’s books to life with themed, interactive games. It caters to both preschoolers and elementary-aged children, with blocks, a ball display, and even a grand piano for kids to experiment with.

Baby Zone

A cozy, padded space exclusively for babies under 1 year old. With mirrors and low furniture to pull up on, it’s the perfect safe spot for the tiniest visitors.

Explore the Moon

A magical little nook accessed by climbing a ladder. Inside, kids will find a dark, cozy space illuminated by a soft, starry lamp.

Drink Bar

Each visitor receives a reusable cup with a lid upon entry, which can be used for unlimited hot and iced coffee, tea, or water throughout your stay—perfect for parents who need a little caffeine boost!

Relaxation Zone

A peaceful area filled with cushions and books from Eric Carle’s library. The selection includes many Japanese titles as well as a dedicated section for English books.
